About Alice

Alice Timmis is an award-winning British textile designer working with brands in London since 2012 and who founded the studio in 2017.

Having studied an MA in WovenTextiles at Royal College of Art before working for one of Italy’s largest wovenmills in Lake Como whilst simultaneously taking on hand woven commissions from experimental London designers, Alice is highly specialised in both industrial and artisanal techniques.

She has over 10 years expert experience working throughout the UK and EU textile supply chain, known for producing irresistible woven fabrics.

Her skills in developing high-end hand-crafted fabrics for the catwalk coincided with building knowledge of industrial textile manufacturing working with all levels of the supply chain including yarn manufacturers. Many of her industrially woven fabrics are inspired by hand developed techniques.

Alongside the woven design and production side of the practise, Alice also works in research leading innovation and sustainability focused projects, previously as R&D project lead on UAL's BFTT programme. She has a portfolio of UK and international research projects focused on developing unproven textile waste into new commercially viable fabrics.

Alice lectures at a rangeof universities including Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts and previously Winchester School of Art.
